Jane Garner is director of licensing and broadcast specialist public relations and marketing agency kilogrammedia. Clients include licensors, licensees, agents and production companies focused on entertainment, brand, celebrity and art licensing. Its work covers all aspects of trade and consumer PR including print, social networking, product placement, consumer competitions, promotions, character appearances, tours and event management.

How many years have you been attending the show?
Approximately 15. There was a brief gap when I took up a post in a company outside the licensing business; needless to say it wasn’t that long before I was back in the fold.

How long do you usually stay for?
We are based out of London so come up on the Monday armed with exhibiting clients’ press packs and stay over until Thursday. The last evening is always fun however, I have to be careful not to sail past my station and wake up at Stansted Airport!

What do you remember about your first visit?
The show was at the Landmark in those days and I was very new to the industry. My primary recollection was being totally fascinated while not really understanding what on earth was going on.

Have your needs changed in terms of what you want from the show?
What I want from the show is always a helpful press office, a great show of journalists, efficient organisers who can help me to help clients with any issues and an easily navigated layout.   I have zero sense of direction and hate wasting time being lost. Thankfully the show ticks all the boxes.

What do you love most about BLE?
The anticipation and the buzz; seeing industry colleagues that I may not have seen since Vegas; knowing we are helping clients have a successful show by getting them coverage before and during the event; and helping to cement client relationships with journalists.

When I’m at BLE one thing I always do is…Facetime my dog!

What do you do about lunch?
Buy a sandwich from Tesco on the way in. Take it back to the hotel at the end of the day. Throw it away. Repeat.

What are you on the hunt for this year?
We are always on the hunt for coverage opportunities for clients both during and after the show — and of course we are always excited about meeting companies interested in working with us.

What will make it a successful show for you this year?
New leads, happy clients and waking up at the station before Stansted Airport.
