The evolution of a classic brand

It’s amazing how many “classics” from my childhood feel like they are making a comeback; The Clangers, Dangermouse, Thunderbirds, all I need is for a new series of Rentaghost to pop up on the CBBC schedule and my trip back in time will be complete! But what is it that makes these, and so many other “classics”, appeal to new generations of fans and how do the guardians of these brands make sure that any new iteration doesn’t go completely off brief? And what about brands that come from sources other than TV or film, those brands that are deemed “classics” in the real sense of the word? Read more…

The lowdown on the Rocket Challenge

Rocket - Charlie and Rob (1)Among a number of onsite events during BLE that have become almost as well established as the show itself is the Rocket Challenge. This is an event that has taken place every year since 2007, during which independent licensing company Rocket Licensing gets together with one of the brands in its portfolio to come up with a trial of skill, coordination and accuracy that will strain the nerves and stamina of the best and brightest in the licensing and retail industry. My BLE: 5 mins with Sandra Vauthier-Cellier, Senior Vice President EMEA, Fox Consumer Products

Sandra Vauthier-Cellier was appointed to the role of Senior Vice President EMEA, Fox Consumer Products in February this year. She oversees the FCP’s licensing programmes across the EMEA region along with a network of international agents. Sandra’s role encompasses sales, retail and promotions, marketing and communications, as well as brand strategy, creative and product development.
